HELP! I accidentally removed my CPU..... is it broken?

okay so here's what happened. I recently bought Gigabyte Aorus AX370 gaming 5 for my ryzen 1600x. although my build wasn't complete, I get so excited whenever a new part came.. so when my Motherboard came, I plugged it in my PSU without processor or Graphics card and so on..... and it won't POST, so I spent 2 hrs figuring out what might be the problem why the board's RGB not turning on, or fans not working. I tried putting on my CPU(ryzen 1600x) not realizing that the power was still on, without locking the socket, the lights turned on and the fans started spinning.

I was in ashock and confused so I accidentally removed my Ryzen 1600x while it gets warm a bit (without cooling fan)... so tried putting it back without the power on, then after locking the socket. I pressed the power button then lights turned on, and fans started spinning with an error code of 4b??? and DEBUG LED at CPU... P.S: I don't have coolling installed, does my motherboard know that I dont have cooling system thats why DEBUG LED CPU was turned on?

I don't have peace of mind until now since it was my hard earned money....

    Some serious advice you MUST follow:

    NEVER RUN A CPU WITHOUT A COOLER
    NEVER CHANGE HARDWARE WITH THE POWER ON

    Ok, so now the fun begins... If your CPU isn't destroyed...

    1) Turn the power off
    2) Install CPU
    3) Install heatsink, using thermal paste
    3) Install RAM
    4) Install a GPU - Ryzen does not have an integrated GPU as far as I remember
    5) Install power cables - motherboard, CPU and graphics card cables
    6) Connect monitor to the graphics card
    7) Turn power back on
    8) Hope it works

    Let me know how it goes

  3. Ok, now for some knowledge yo!

    So the POST is a power test when the computer boots.
    It basically goes and checks that everything is working. That means voltages, a CPU detected and working, RAM modules, storage, USB devices, the graphics card and some other onboard sensors.

    A POST will not succeed unless everything passes. The error code is the first test that failed. Without looking at the error code online, I am pretty certain that is either for a CPU failure or the RAM. The power supply obviously works.

    Because the CPU does not have integrated graphics, it means that the POST cannot succeed until a working GPU is installed.
    Storage, USB devices and the like do not need to be plugged in or anything, they will only be checked if detected.

    When booting with a GPU and monitor connected, then hopefully you should see a UEFI screen that will flash up if everything works. Sometimes it will display an error message if the basic system works but something went wrong along the way.

    So there's a possibility that my CPU or MOBO isn't destroyed? I will try and hope it will boot up

  5. aquielisunari, I would not have considered a CMOS reset... in this case it makes a lot of sense, actually.
    As far as I remember (a long time since I have done this), this is done by removing the button battery located on the motherboard.

    Here is a basic guideline:
    1) Turn PC completely off, unplug PSU from the wall.
    2) Wait 30 seconds for the voltages drop off so there is no power left in the PSU.
    3) Find the silver button batteryl. Remove it.
    4) Wait 30 seconds or more.
    5) Place battery back in.
    6) Plug PSU back into the wall, probably wait a little bit.
    7) Boot computer.

    jamievaldez548, take the PC building process slowly. 20 minutes here is a good trade for 5 years of working computer.
    Make sure you have all the components you need. It is incredibly rare to find anything dead on arrival.
    With the exception of your CPU or motherboard, chances are everything else will be fine.

    Make sure you have the following installed:
    Motherboard, CPU, CPU heatsink, RAM and GPU. Plug in the PSU.

    If you do not have these yet, or haven't installed them, I strongly recommend you wait until you have them.
    When you are then good to go, then by all means try and boot up.
    So when you are ready, try and boot up and see if it makes it through POST. As for the chance of it succeeding, I honestly can't say.
    I reckon the chance is incredibly slim, but if it works, you are one crazy, lucky person!

    Yeah, I wanted to know if the Motherboard works... but testing it, I think it became worse! Thank you for the reply, I hope that my MOBO and CPU is working fine when my build is done. i'll let you know

    UPDATE!!!:
    So i bought a graphics card Aorus 1060 6 gb! , Nzxt kraken AIO cooling system, and Gskill RAM!
    guess what, My rig boots up into bios. and My motherboard and CPU works perfectly!!
