More about nvidia volta release date
  1. No official word on Volta but it looks like NVIDIA is targeting a January / February release date. A 1080TI is still a pretty safe purchase for now but if you want to wait that would probably be good as well.

1st Quarter of 2018 is the tentative time frame being speculated around. No official announcement from NVidia yet. Considering its current generation sales they might push the date further. As mentioned above, 1080ti is still a good purchase, specially if you can get a good deal around Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas/NewYear.

You will not get a 1080TI on special on Black Friday. Maybe a Founders Edition, but ultra high end GPUs are always in demand. And those things are what never gets discounted.

I think, I did see a 1080 discounted last year around that time. Not sure though.

It happens but if it does it's usually refurbished models or close outs. Never anything new in box. The always in demand items like high end GPUs, CPUs, motherboards and high end PSUs are things that never get discounted. It's usually the high volume junk they can't move the rest of the year.
  6. Amd is releasing their next gen Navi around end of summer 2018, so expect volta to come out before that.
  7. You need to wait, current pascal line has shader model 5 and gddr5 ram, Volta will be gddr6 and shader model 6.
  8. I will wait for Volta and I think you should too, I currently have 2x GTX 980 Ti's and I will def wait for Volta. If Nvidia's Volta GPU is 132% faster than Pascal, imagine what that can do for Gamers.
  9. U should probably wait till next year beacuse nvidia's volta 2000 series is much faster than 1080ti.
Gtx 2080 is expected to have 16 Gbps which can run triple A title's on solid 60 fps on 8k which gtx 1080ti in 2 way sli cannot.
There are some rumors that gtx 2000 series would release in january or february of 2018.

Please don't talk about things you don't understand. A GTX 2080 will not be capable of 8k 60, it will do 4k 60 comfortably, but unless you're playing minesweeper don't expect 8k 60 until 2019 at the earliest. Remember its 4x the pixels of 4k!!!!
  11. Speculated specifications on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 20 series graphics cards are old :
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti - GP102/3384/384-bit/GDDR5X
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 - GP104/2560/256-bit/GDDR5X
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2070 - GP104/2048/256-bit/GDDR5X
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 Ti 6GB - GP106/1280/192-bit/GDDR5
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 6GB - GP106/1024/192-bit/GDDR5
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2050 - GP107/768/128-bit/GDDR5

Speculated price on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 20 series graphics cards:
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti - $799
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 - $499
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2070 - $349
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 Ti 6GB - $229
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 6GB - $179
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2050 - $139
As for performance, we should expect a 10-30% gain over the performance of the GTX 10 series parts, which would really put NVIDIA into the lead by an even larger margin.

  12. About to buy a 1080Ti since I've bought almost everything else for my rig. Early 2018 could mean anything from January to May, right? January is something I'd wait for but May is not. All speculation I suppose.

  14. I believe that GPU mining is running out of profits soon. I think 25-30 percent of video card sales may have went in to mining rigs. Not sure where all the Video cards will end up when they dont serve that purpose anymore. Correct me if I am wrong but seems we are on the verge of seeing 2+ million Video Cards going back to market? Maybe very cheap. At the same time Nvidia will be flooding Millions of there new series to market. Very interesting effects to market are sure to come anyhow.
