More about nvidia volta release date
  1. No official word on Volta but it looks like NVIDIA is targeting a January / February release date. A 1080TI is still a pretty safe purchase for now but if you want to wait that would probably be good as well.

  2. 1st Quarter of 2018 is the tentative time frame being speculated around. No official announcement from NVidia yet. Considering its current generation sales they might push the date further. As mentioned above, 1080ti is still a good purchase, specially if you can get a good deal around Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas/NewYear.

You will not get a 1080TI on special on Black Friday. Maybe a Founders Edition, but ultra high end GPUs are always in demand. And those things are what never gets discounted.

I think, I did see a 1080 discounted last year around that time. Not sure though.

It happens but if it does it's usually refurbished models or close outs. Never anything new in box. The always in demand items like high end GPUs, CPUs, motherboards and high end PSUs are things that never get discounted. It's usually the high volume junk they can't move the rest of the year.
