3.5mm speaker jack connected to motherboard wont work. Only works on my monitor.

I've connected everything correctly, the green 3.5mm speakers jack is connected on the green circle (sorry have no idea what its called) in my motherboard and gives no audio out. However the computer recognises that I inserted something on my motherboard but doesnt give out a sound. Is there anything I can do. Im using Windows 10 64bit and my motherboard is ASRock AB350M. Speaker is https://www.speedlink.com/en/oxid/PC-Accessories/Speakers/SPEEDLINK-AVENZA-2-1-Subwoofer-System-black.html

  1. If your monitor's speakers are getting their audio from the HDMI cable, then "Digital Audio (HDMI)" is selected as your playback device instead of "Speakers."

It's right in Control Panel under "Sound"

    1) Try the speakers on another device, like a phone or tablet or a laptop. Confirm the speakers do actually work.

    2) If they do work on something else, make sure that the speaker jack is set as the default audio playback. Not HDMI or some other choice. I think you can do that through the Realtec control panel. Or you may have to go to the device manager under sounds, if I recall.

The fact that the mother board detects the speakers when you plug them in is a good sign that the MB is ok. I suppose there is a slight chance there is a problem with the board, but I feel it's highly unlikely. Is this a new build? Couldn't tell from the post. If the speakers did work with something else, then obviously the speakers are ok. That pretty much means it has to be a setting somewhere.

Yeah its my first pc build and everything is new. The speakers only work when I have them on my monitors headphone jack. I have them on HDMI default however my monitor does not have built in speakers. I'll try and see if I can find the source in the control panel or hopefully in my motherboards bios somewhere
