Case buzzer going off

Just put a newer mother board in GA-MA785GM-US2H
every time I plug the 4 pin power in the eight pin plug and power it up after a few seconds the case buzzer goes on and the cpu gets very hot right away and the hard drive will not boot led light on font panel will not work either. Any ideas? I order a four pin power adapter to eight pin thought that might be an issue. The antheon 64x2 cpu worked good in my asus m2ne sli. Any ideas would be great.

  3. Thank much for you answer. I will check to see if cpu is supported very next thing.
Yes I did plug cpu fan cooler in. I found out it was getting really hot within one second or two. I took the cpu cooler off put my finger on the cpu and turned it on cpu was really hot in just a second or two.

  4. running cpu without a cooler you risk to have it going out .

  5. If the CPU is overheating that quickly the cooler isn't correctly installed.
Does the locking catch lock down and hold the cooler securely to the CPU? Maybe the spring plate that holds it down has broken or the tabs on either end may not have engaged fully with the CPU socket.
If you reused the old cooler, did you use new thermal paste? Reusing an old cooler is fine but the thermal paste must be renewed to ensure proper cooling.
If it is a new cooler did it have a protective film or cover over the base? It's an easy mistake to make but that cover/film must be removed before the cooler is fitted, if not it'll act as a barrier to heat transfer.

  6. I only ran it for three seconds with out the cpu cooler just to see how fast it heated up. But sure seems abnormal for it to get tgat hot in two seconds. I did check to see if my cpu was supported and it is. atholon 64x2 6400+ but sence the mobo came with out a cpu not sure what the bios is. If the bios dosent have the software for the cpu will it still boot?
