I've recently bought a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 G1 GAMING 6GB DDR5 192-bit, and having a i3-4160 3.60GHz I've come to the conclusion that it bottlenecks a little. I'm wondering what the cheapest CPU is that I can upgrade to, same socket without changing the motherboard or anything else. I'm thinking of buying an i5 of the same generation. Will that fix the bottleneck?

What motherboard are you using (to check the chipset)? I would say the i5 7600k would be a perfect match with the 1060. Costs ~200$.

I5 or a I7 of the same gen what is your MB make and mod?
You could probably find a used 4770/4790 (or K variants) for fairly cheap on a local/online market. Even a 1150 socket Xeon (4C/8T versions) would work well over that i3 as long as your motherboard would support it.

I suggest the i5 4690k. I use mine with a 1080ti. I highly recommend this cpu if you want to stick with a 1150 motherboard.
