New PSU turns off after 1-3 minutes w/wo paperclip

Hi guys,

I've been stuck on this problem for the last 15 hours or so, so any help or suggestions would be super helpful.
Just brought my new psu Endermax Platimax 850w and while doing the paperclip test the psu seems to autoshutdown shut down after around 1-5 minutes. (seems random)
I've tested this plugged into gpu only, computer and gpu, just by itself. Different plugs different cables.

Things I've noticed
After turning off you have to remove the paperclip before it will turn back on again.

any suggestions?

  2. I have checked out this post to no avail.

I have found that my psu works in some sockets but not others. I think it has something to do with grounding. But my other psu works just fine. Maybe this one has some protection feature that makes it switch off. However it works in grounding plugs without actually attaching grounding cable. For reference it uses this plug http://cdn.cableleader.com/media/catalog/product/6/f/6ft-japan-power-cord-with-ground.jpg

  3. This is assuming you are using Windows, but have you tried booting into the UEFI Troubleshooting Advanced Options screen and letting it sit there for ten minutes? Not safe mode, just the recovery screen. I do this to test if it's a software issue causing the PC to shut down. Try that and then we can see if it's a software issue or really narrow it down to hardware. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the reply, since I checked it with paperclip I assumed it wasn't a software issue. Not sure why it was working sometimes and not others but I took it into the place I brought it. It crashed at the shop as well so they gave me a replacement. They said it was something like Intial failure, not really sure what that is was but the new one works now thanks.
