8gb ram reserved

motherboard; B350 GAMING PLUS
cpu; Ryzen 5 1600X, AM4, 3.6 GHz, 6-core
ddr4; 16GB (2 x 8GB) FORTIS (for AMD), DDR4 2400 MHz, CL16, 1.20V

Okay got my new specs few days ago. and I have problem with my memory. My system shows/says that I have 16gb of total ram but half of that is hardware reserved :/ any suggestions I should try or what will fix this. I've tried few things already :(?? usin slots 2 and 4

  1. had a look at the manual and channel A is slot 1+2 and channel B is slot 3+4. Try the ram in 1+2 or 3+4. That might fix it.

    yesterday I flashed the newest bios I found. And pretty sure mobo chipset driver is fine aswell.

    when Im using 1,2 and 3,4 together then my computer wont boot. My computer only starts but there comes no signal to my monitor. :(

    Have you tried each stick individually? Just to see one isn't a dud.

  6. Had a quick look on google and there was an issue with the B350 chipset and ram not being compatible. That should have been fixed by a bios update by now. Im guessing your ram is F4-2400C15D-16GFT which is not on the ram compatibility list on their site. Not saying it has to be on the list but they have slower and faster versions of your ram but the 2400 sticks are absent.

    I have also seen similar issues on overclockers with ram not on the compatibility list.

    I suggest you return the ram and get some that's on the list. If you like gskill then there are others on there; just not the ones you got.

    Also as a side note Ryzen seems to perform better with faster ram.
