Should I switch from AMD to Intel or just get an i5 equivalent?

Hi. The gaming computer I have is pretty bad (though it was free to me). I am looking to upgrade my cpu and gpu, but I don't know if I should stick with AMD, and if I do, what should I get? I am also looking to get a gtx 1060 3gb graphics card. Any help is very much appreciated!

My current specs are:
GPU: GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR3
CPU: AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz 4-Core
Motherboard: AMD 760G Chipset
OS: Windows 10

  1. If u do streaming a lot, then better go for AMD Ryzen.
    Otherwise, just pick Intel.
i5-7500 would be quite decent if u really dont need an i7.

Also, get the 6GB GTX1060 instead of 3GB.

Which of the AMD Ryzen would you recommend? I am starting to stream more. I have looked at the Ryzen 3 1300 but I want what ever will benefit me the most in the long run. Thanks.

Cost effective will be Ryzen 1600, 6 cores very good for streaming compared to I5 even I7, unless you can wait for coffee lake I5 which has 6 cores as well.

Go for a Ryzen 1600 or Ryzen 1700 if you need the extra cores for streaming or rendering. Otherwise, for an i5 or i7 as those can overclock more and are better for gaming. Also, a 1060 3gb is not at all worth it. It performs similarly to the 1050ti with less VRAM, at a higher price. Some newer games are already going over the 3gb mark, reaching close to 4, so you will not get as far with the 3gb in the future. Either pick 1050ti if you are on a lower budget, or get the 1060 6gb.
