A12 9800 or Ryzen 3 1200?

I'm planning to build my first budget gaming pc. As a student I'm tight on budget and can't really afford a high end gpu, so will I be better off with a12 9800? Or Ryzen 3 1200 with a mid tier gpu? Are rx 540 or 550 good enough for r3? I read some bad reviews about a12 so Im having second thoughts.

  1. Go with the Ryzen and whatever best GPU you can afford. No need to put money in an old outdated platform.

TL;DR: "we're not impressed with the A12-9800 and we strongly recommend you avoid purchasing any of the Bristol Ridge CPUs"

  3. it truly depends on what you planning on doing. if your going to game. get the ryzen and a rx 550 or rx460 or a gtx 750ti. if you will do light gaming at a resolution or 720p on medium to low setting then get the A 12 9800. with no gpu. i currently own a amd athlon 5350 with built in gpu. it runs everything at 720p. so i know the a12 will work.
