Which one should i get first? ram or ssd? gtx 1060 3gb or 6gb?

Sorry for long post.

So recently, I bought parts little byt little to build my new pc for rendering and gaming. I wanted 16gb of ram, got short and bought 1x8gb instead. Im saving money to get the other 8gb and thought of SSD. Which should I buy first for better performance?

I have:
Processor: i7-7700k 4.2 GHz
Motherboard: Asus Strix H270f Gaming
CPU Cooler: Cryorig m9i
RAM: Avexir Core Series 1x8gb DDR4-2400
HDD: Seagate 1tb ST 1000VM002
PSU: EVGA 600B, 600w 80+ Bronze
Monitor: 22" Samsung 1920 x 1080p

Also, I have to wait until next week to get my gpu. I wanted gtx 1060 and I have a tight budget. What should I buy 3gb or 6gb? I will upgrade after 2 or 3 yrs from now. I have this on my list.

3gb Inno3d GTX 1060 X2 OC ddr5 192bit
3gb Palit GTX 1060 StormX ddr5 192bit
3gb Galax GTX 1060 Dual Fan ddr5 192bit
3gb Palit GTX 1060 Dual Fan ddr5 192bit
3gb Zotac GTX 1060 Mini ddr5 192bit
3gb MSI GTX 1060 Dual Fan OC ddr5 192bit
3gb Galax GTX 1060 EXOC White ddr5 192bit
3gb Zotac GTX 1060 AMP! ddr5 192bit
3gb Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce ddr5 192bit
3gb Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming ddr5 192bit
6gb Galax GTX 1060 OC ddr5 192bit
6gb Zotac GTX 1060 Mini ddr5 192bit
6gb Inno3d GTX 1060 Gaming OC ddr5 192bit
6gb Palit GTX 1060 Dual Fan ddr5 192bit
6gb Palit GTX 1060 Jetstream ddr5 192bit

PS. Im a computer noob so please tell me if there's something wrong with this build. I choose i7-7700k for its base frequency and just know recently about the h and z thing. Not planning to overclock, so maybe this will do. Sorry for bad english. English is not my native language.

More about ram ssd gtx 1060 3gb 6gb
  1. You should definitely buy the 6gb variation of the 1060 , there is more to it than just the vram , the 3gb model is also cut down on a hardware level & is around 25% less powerful.

The cheapest 6gb model will far outperform the most expensive 3gb model .

Re ssd vs ram ?? Ideally both , for rendering the ram is likely more important.

Re - your cooler , I don't know how much use you've put that 7700k under at the moment ??
Once you begin gaming proper you may find that m9i struggling to maintain decent temps - the 7700k can run notoriously hot even at stock speeds.

  2. Poor choose of hardware if you ask me. To start from MB no NVM support, good CPU not enough RAM. If you had nvm slot you could get SSD and use the page file/swap file until you can get more RAM. The GPU market is really bad at the moment if ask me wait the prices to drop if you cant wait ofc 6GB is better in every way. PSU: EVGA 600B, 600w 80+ Bronze not good if you planing to get 1070 or 1080 no way to run VEGA with that PSU. Two big mistakes most people do when they order PC build pool choose of motherboard this is the one thing that if you plan to replace it involve most of the times replace of your CPU,RAM too. Second is PSU it seams ppl dont understand how PSU is working.

  3. Please do consider that I will be upgrading after 2 or 3yrs. I will probably change the other parts that are not good and use it for my little brother's pc. (This is my first own built pc, btw.)

Re- Reason why Im thingking what to choose, 3gb or 6gb 'cause I will be using this primarily for rendering and only for few games like pubg, sniper elite 4, gta 5 and other esports games especially DOTA, which I will be playing most of the time. Other games listed, only moderate since Im still studying (Architecture) and currently getting ready for a college thesis.

Re- I will buy both SSD and RAM but not at the same time 'cause Im still saving for it. I just want to know if which should i buy first? SSD or RAM for better performance. For now.

  4. I personally wouldnt buy the 3gb 1060.

bearing in mind you sound like a 'casual' gamer would not a 1050ti ,ram & ssd all in one hit be in budget ??

Youll have to lower settings with a 1050ti for certain games but theyll still be eminently playable (even heavy duty stuff like gta v)

You get the best of both worlds that way.

  5. 1050ti was actually my first choice. Is 1050ti good in rendering? Someone told me quadro or 1060 is min. in rendering so I switch to 1060.

If ever I choose 1050ti, which brand do you think is better?

You bought a 7700k , its arguably good enough for software based CPU rendering without worrying about GPU acceleration.
That said when cuda rendering is available the 1050ti will still do OK.

Models are much of a muchness , any decent twin fan is fine.

I will consider choosing 1050 ti instead. Thanks for response, sir. Really helps a lot deciding.
