What kind of monitor should I buy? Gaming

Alright, so I'm looking to buy a brand new monitor. I've been looking over it on the internet, and found out that the ACER Predator XB271HU is a very good choice, having an IPS panel and a 1440p resolution and of course, the 144hz refresh rate.

I cannot decide on my own, is it worth it? I would mostly use the monitor for FPS gaming. I know games like Rainbow Six Siege and its competitive-based brothers require 144hz with 144fps as well. Will my system run it?

CPU: intel core i7 6800k
RAM: 16gb
GPU: GTX 1080

I am willing to pay the price for the acer predator xb271hu, but I really do not want to go above it. Question is, with this kind of setup, should I go with 1440p 144hz, or stay at 1080p 144hz? Whatever is your answer, could you please recommend good monitors that are good for competitive gaming?

Thank you in advance

  1. My vote is 1440p 144Hz. Your monitor will last several pc upgrades and a 1080 is capable of running high settings.

Should I go with the predator then? Or is there a better monitor you recommend?

  3. The Predator and the ASUS PG279Q ROG Swift 27 are the best on the market that fit that spec. There are cheaper options but of course that includes a compromise on quality.
