Asus M3A78-VM Motherboard, Only Channel A RAM slots working

Hey all,

I have this Asus M3A78-VM motherboard here, i've tested it with 4 Corsair XMS2 800Mhz sticks (2 different sets of 2) and a set of Crucial 800Mhz DDR2 as well.

All sticks work but only in the Channel A slots (slots 1 & 3).

I'm not sure how likely it is for bpoth Channe; B slots to be faulty.

Is there a setting in the BIOS to enable/disable these slots? (I had a look but couldn't find anything, but i could be missing something obvious).

The CPU I am using is a Phenom X4 940.

Any ideas would be more than welcome.

Cheers,

Check your socket vendor (name is on the white plastic) - if it is *Lotes* - may be socket is bad.

So you're saying the Socket could be faulty? Making both Channel B DIMMS non working?

Issue is I have an Arctic Freezer 13 sat on top of my CPU, and it's a pain in the arse to take off then put back on.

  3. Yes.
One fail contact is enough to make even all DIMMS bad.
