Set Adaptive mode???

I overclocked to 4.5 GHz on my i7 6700k using a msi z270 motherboard with click bios 5 with a voltage of 1.210 and when I set it to adaptive mode isn’t it supposed to not run at 4.5 GHz idle?

No, adaptive will change your voltage when it is needed given the particular application. I dont typically run this as it can add more voltage than is needed.

If you want your clockspeed to be adaptive to what the application is needed, then you need to change Windows Power mode to Balanced. Go to Settings, System, Power and Sleep, Additional Power Settings, and choose balanced.
