Issues with H100i V2 and Asus Strix X299-E

Hello All,

I'm doing my first X299 build and am trying to install a H100i V2 to my Asus ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING Intel X299 Chipset Socket LGA2066 ATX motherboard, and when I put the intel backplate on it lines up with the holes. Thing is the holes don't go all the way through. There is some kind of 'spongy' substance between it and the screw location so this is leaving me confused.

Am I suppose to 'break through' it or what?

Thanks

  2. I think I fixed with by using other screws. Thanks God I saved them when I bought the cooler a year ago...
