Metro Last Light Redux terrible framerate...

So i tried playing Metro Last Light Redux yesterday and noticed the fps were terrible. It's unplayable, like 5 fps on medium with everything else disabled. I tried various fixes I found on the internet like turning off physx, disabling ssao, reinstalling the game, validating game files via steam and whatnot, but nothing helped so far. On low i get maybe 20 fps. I can run doom, fallout 4 or dying light without a problem on high settings.
My specs are: nvidia gtx960m 4gb vram, intel core i7 6600k, 32gb ram
I'm pretty sure the specs aren't the problem..
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this game?

  1. How much is your cpu and gpu working? Is your cpu using all of its cores?

The cpu doesn't seem to be the problem.. I checked it's preformace and it uses around 50% of it's available power. According to resource monitor all the cores are working (there are 8 graphs)
Memory isn't near it's maximum either - only about 8 gb are actively used.
I noticed that turning bluetooth off and playing over wired headphones significantly increased the fps. Doing that, i can play metro somewhat decently on medium with everything else off.
Putting it in windowed mode also helped a bit.
It's still not very nice to play though, obviously.
I just checked the gpu usage with msi afterburner, don't know if I read the graphs properly but as far as i could see gpu 2 was maxed out on 100% while gpu 1 wasn't used at all.

Oh, make sure the game is running on your gtx960m and not your motherboards graphics card. I don't know how to do it but do a quick google search and see if you can find out how to change it.

It worked, thank you! Turned out "auto-select" for the gpu was selected on my nvidia control panel. Now metro is running on very high and everything's totally smooth - the satisfaction is real.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it :)!
