I5 6600k overclock advice

I've been running my 6600k at 4.2 Ghz stable. I'd like to push it to 4.6 or 4.7 ghz. I mainly use it to play games. With cpu lifespan in mind, is it worth it to try and hit those speeds?

Any tips are appreciated.

  1. I dont think overclcking your cpu is going to do alot in games. If you were doing rendering or something than yes

  2. What kind of voltage do you need to keep 4.2 stable? Generally speaking the maximum safe voltage for long term use is 1.35V, you could go up to 1.4V but that might significantly decrease CPU lifespan. If you're still well below 1.35V you can keep pushing higher, though hitting 4.6 or 4.7 will likely require you to exceed 1.35V unless you have won the silicon lottery.

  3. I bumped it up to 4.5 and 1.3 volts and it's 100% stable
