Is an SSD worth it ?

I was thinking of getting an SSD and i found a samsung one that i am planning on getting but i want to ask what benefits does the SSD give me in gaming,i want to use it mostly for games but maybe even for my system if it gives me any other benefit than the faster boot since my boot is already pretty fast that getting it simply for that is not worth it to me

It's more than just boot time.

Every application/utility installed on that drive is faster.
    Less noise.
    Less heat
    Less vibration
    Every OS function is faster.

I would not build a main use PC without one.
All of my main systems here at the house are SSD only.

250GB or larger. Don't cheap out, thinking a 120GB will get you by.

  2. boot and game load times(if the game is installed on the SSD). It won't really help with FPS

  3. For gaming, none really. You may see faster initial load of the game or lvls but no real in game improvements. The exception being if your RAM pool is so low that you are constantly hitting up the HDD for more info but in that case you'd be better off buying more RAM first.

inside gaming not much of a help, level loads will be faster, the game itself will open much faster.
Killing floor 2 on my system took 2 minutes to load from my HDD, less than 40 seconds with an ssd.
In CS:GO I notice that the warmup time was 0-2 seconds on HDD, and with the ssd I have the full 15 seconds again.

  5. Once you go to an SSD you will never go back my friend. Advantages include speeds more than twice as fast. In gaming you will see faster loading screens, your system as a whole will run much better. I absolutely believe it is worth it, however, it is still your decision.

I'm assuming you have a desktop, but laptops see other advantages from SSDs such as longer battery life, and the fact that it is much less fragile than an HDD, so moving your laptop around while it is on is less damaging, and if you drop is, it is less likely to fail compared to an HDD.
