Ryzen 5 1600

Hey ! Recently i built a pc with this configuration :

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600

CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15 SE-AM4 140.2 CFM

Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350-GAMING 3 ATX AM4

Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000

Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5"

Storage: Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

Video Card: ZOTAC - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP!

Power Supply: Corsair - RMx 650W 80+ Gold Power Supply

I have F6 version for BIOS . It's safe to update the BIOS ? Should i OC the RAM ? I think i get really poor performance , for my pc parts like :

In BF1 , 1080p @144hz , DX12 , Suez map , 24 players i got :

GPU : 55-70% load
CPU: 35-58% load
with minimum of 69 fps and maximum of 144.

Thanks !

  1. Yes I'd update the BIOS and run the ram at the rated speeds. Also oc your processor if you haven't already

  2. Overclocking the RAM in Ryzen systems helps a bit. Just use the XMP preset, which makes it easy. It is also safe to update the BIOS, just sure you go to the legitimate Gigabyte website to download the BIOS update, don't get it from anywhere else. It probably maxes at 144 because V-Sync is turned on. If you turn it off, you may see higher frame rate, but also more screen tearing.

  3. I also think I remember dx11 working better on ryzen. Double check that as well
