Gtx 1080 severely underperforming!!!

Why is my gtx 1080 undeperforming in all games such as overwatch, battlegrounds and CSGO each running below their intended framerates for example:

Overwatch: Youtube Benchmark: 170 frames average
My benchmark: 70 frames average

Battlegrounds: Youtube benchmark: 70 frames average
my benchmark: 40 frames average

Csgo: Youtube Benchmark: 400+fps average
my benchmark: 100 fps average

The things i have done to fix it:

1. Uninstalling drivers with ddu and reinstalling them

2. Using old graphics drivers used on the benchmarks

3. Open the bios and see if there is things i have missed

4. Change the power setting to HIGH PERFORMANCE

5. Change settings in nvidia such as DSR: OFF

6.Made sure that vsync is off

Please Help me!! thanks.

Also my 3dmark scores is: 5068 in the time spy benchmark

Specs:

Graphics Card:inno3d Gtx 1080 Ichill x4 \

Processor: Ryzen 5 1500x with stock fans

Motherboard: Msi x370 sli plus

Memory: 16 (2x8) gb of Gskill Trident Z rgb memory

PSU: Corsair 750w Csm series 80+ gold

Case: Nzxt s340

monitor: LG 24MP59G 75hz monitor

(Yeah the specs are a little unbalanced with my gtx 1080 but the frame drops should never be that bad)

download msi afterburner.then follow a tutorial on youtube on how to set it up for ingame monitoring.however i can say that your cpu is bottlenecking the gpu.

    install msi afterburner

turn on the OSD options to monitor cpu temps, speed, and gpu core speed + temps

k will do that ill try using Overwatch

  7. I just did it and it appears that in game overwatch:

    GPU Usage: 20%-55%

    CPU Usage: 70%-90%

    is this a bottleneck?

is your cpu running at full speed?

and what are its max temps while under load

  10. closer to 100% on your CPU the more it is a bottleneck. You could try turning up more graphical settings and that will take some load off your CPU but that won't increase your frame rate. It would just decrease the bottleneck. The 1500x is a decent CPU but more and more I am telling folks to get 6C/12T or better CPUs as games are using more threads then they use to. That said the games your playing should be ok with 4C/8T. Ryzen is weakest at 1080P resolution. When you game at 1440P or higher it performs almost the same as intel parts. This is a fairly well known phenomenon.

will upscaling help this problem to 1440p

u could do that and see if there is any difference.playing at higher res will push your gpu even more and your 1080 should be able to handle 1440p.

  14. Core clock is king for gaming. You'll spend $200 on a 1600x and get absolutely smoked by a 7700K, the extra cores don't count for jack when the core clock is low, especially considering the amount of unoptimized games there are that can't/won't utilize more than 1-2 cores (all the games he mentioned included). And you can easily get up to 5GHz on a 7700K making it easily the fastest processor all around.

  15. i think that the answer supplied by EpIckFa1LJoN is probably what is going on with your system. As he said current games are not taking advantage of the extra cores/threads available to the Ryzen chips, so they don't perform as well as the intel chips when running at 1080p.

  16. That is true but at the same time i didnt expect much performance from the ryzen 5 1500x + gtx 1080 combo. All of my concerns is coming from a youtube video that did a comparison between the i5 7500 and the ryzen 5 1500x with the gtx 1080. In one of the two part video when they were benchmarking overwatch, they got an average of 170 fps and 150fps minimum with the combo but in my system they only get 70fps average and sometimes dipping down to the low 40s which is odd considering how high the fps is on the benchmark done in this video:

yes i am sure, i might have found a problem though my cpu core clocks are running at 1550 megahertz instead of the intended 3500 megahertz. This might explain my performance, how do you fix this. I have turned all the settings of windows at performance this is on an aida 64 stress test

it is still around 45 degrees which is low, this isnt a problem of thermal throttling it just decides to run on the LOWEST clock core speed which is weird.
