Overclocking an FX-4300 chip

Recently I found some slow downs in games I play and found out that it was a cpu problem so I wanted to overclock my fx-4300 to hopefully fix or lessen the problem. I'm fairly new to overclocking so I'm worried that I would blow my cpu if I make any wrong moves. I tried using AMD overdrive in order to overclock but I'm honestly still a little scared about the fact that I could potentially destroy my chip. I cant really seem to find much of a simple tutorial online, can anybody possibly explain or link me to a good explanation of overclocking?

  1. Pretty much; don't.
Thermals are crap, and as is the overall chip performance.
    Save up for a Ryzen 5 upgrade, or a G4560 B250 8GB list.

I currently am saving for an upgrade to a ryzen (probably the 1600x) but till then I have no chouse but to use my fx4300, I've seen online people achieve speeds of up to 4.6ghz with just a hyper 212 evo, am I able to achieve something similar?
