Corsair H100i V2 header connection question

I have an Asus Strix Z720 motherboard and a Corsair H100i V2 CPU cooler. I intend to run Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 Operating systems. Windows will be for gaming, while Ubuntu will be for my research in computer vision and deep learning. As such I do intend to overclock my system. As per the installation instructions for the Corsair H100i V2, it said to connect the 3pin header to the CPU_FAN header and then connect the provided 4pin headers from the pump to the 2 fans on the radiator. Corsair Link is then used to control the fan profiles. However there are two issues with this. Corsair Link only works with Windows and not Ubuntu, and also I will not be able to use the overclocking utilities of the ASUS motherboard. I have given this some thought and I came up with a solution but I would like to hear your advice. I intend to connect the 4pin headers of the two fans to the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT headers respectively and then connect the 3pin header to the AIO_PUMP header on the motherboard. This was I believe the pump would run at 100% all the time, but I will be able to customize the fan profiles through the ASUS UEFI tuning software. Will this work? Does this seem reasonable? Any advice etc? Thanks!

    No, you can adjust the profile in the monitor menu, in BIOS.

    The pump connector that comes with the H100i v2 is a 3 pin connector so that would not allow for pwm control. I guess I will have to set it to dc control in the bios? Also from my research, it says that pumps should always be working at 100%. Is the true or not?

    Yes

    It's an option. You can set the pump control to Disable in BIOS, instead of DC Mode, test and see which one suits better your needs.
