Is this build compatible?

Hello! people suggested me this website so im here trying to find answers! and im sorry for annoying you :D

Im planning on getting this build :

[CPU] i5-7600K 3.8 GHZ 6MB Cache LGA1151 BOX
[CPU_FAN] THERMALTAKE FRIO SILENT 14 140MM FAN ALU
[MB] ASROCK FATAL1TY B150 GAMING K4 LGA 1151
[PSU] THERMALTAKE LITEPOWER 650W
[GPU] ASUS GTX 960 TURBO OC 4GB GDDR5
[RAM] AVEXIR BLITZ RED LED DDR4 8GB KIT (4GBX2)
[HDD_SSD] Disque Dur HDD Western Digital 1TB 7200 T/Min Sata3 3.5" Blue

Is this build compatible? Some told me the motherboard doesnt support that GPU ( they said mb supports ddr4 ) so i want to know if thats true or false.

I read that you can overclock both the gpu & cpu on that motherboard. so can anyone confirm?
any better suggestions when it comes to the build? And thank you so much.

First all all, yes you will need DDR4 ram, a simple check on the motherboards website will confirm this: http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/fatal1ty%20b150%20gaming%20k4/

next, its touch and go whether your CPU will even work in that motherboard, 100 series intel boards need a bios update to support kaby lake CPU's, and to update the bios, you neeed a working CPU, in this case a sky lake, some ship with the bios update already applied, a lot dont, really you need a 200 series motherboard (Z270, B250, H270 etc)

finally, only the Z series of boards allow you to overclock the CPU, so in your case, you would need a Z270 motherboard.

If you add all the parts you're interested in into this website, it will tell you if theres any problems with compatibility: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

A bit misunderstanding actually. Newer GPUs have GDDR5 VRAM while newer RAM sticks have DDR4, they are different yes, but you don't plug your GPU on the RAM slot do you? Jokes aside, they're different so what your really need is a mobo with DDR4 RAM slots and a PCI-E 2.0 or higher GPU slot (Which your current mobo has, both of them. No worries there. )

While your current GPU and CPU are both overclockable, that mobo specifically can't overclock your CPU. If you wish to overclock your CPU in the future, you should get a Zx70 mobo, better yet, a Z270 mobo.

Yes, change that GPU, it's kinda old and not reaaally up to the task in modern games. Even a RX470 will be better, a good improvement will be seen with a RX480 or a GTX1060, i'd stick with either of those.

  3. Yes it supports DDR4 memory which you have, but the GPU uses GDDR5 (where the 'G' stands for graphics), so it's ok there. Question, what country are you end? These are some interesting parts. Why are you going with a 7600K but only a GTX 960? Do you have a budget?

Also that board does not pair with that CPU. You need a Kaby Lake board (B250 or Z270).

Oh i got the first part! thank you!

sadly, the store im trying to buy from doesnt have these options... im really confused on what to get... they dont have z270.. only z170.. they have asrock intel x99 extreme4 if thats a better choice or smth..
also, some said i need to update the bios in the motherboard i picked so it runs the i5 cpu

Alright! ill go with geforce gtx 1060 g1 gaming 6GO GDDR5. thanks for the suggestion

the reason why is. i wanted to focus on the CPU more than gpu as i play csgo most of the times.. and the game is more cpu based and i play with medium settings...
the store im buying from doesnt have z270 sadly.... some said i can update the mb bios so it can run the cpu, idk...

You can, you just need a skylake processor, like the G4400 or any i3/5/7-6xxx series, but i don't think it's worth it

Just get the Sky Lake i5 instead, theres not much in it and they run cooler anyway, plus a little cheaper, the i5 6600k: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6600K/3885vs3503

  8. Switch to a 200 series motherboard and possibly get a z270 for the overclockable CPU. You should switch to a 1050ti as they are as fast.
