custom watercooling for i7-7700k ?

Whats up guys,

I need your suggestions please.

I have the following specs:

MB - Asus strix z270G
Ram - 32GB geil forza 2400mhz
Cooler - arctic liquid freezer 360
Gpu - powercolor radeon rx 470 (will upgrade soon)
OS - windows 10 home

I have learned so far that aida64 put the worst stress on the machine out of different benchmark systems out there, so I am only mentioning that even though I did stress testing with others as well. I only tested by playing doom. Love that game. 130 FPS from the GPU.

clock - 5.1 GHz, core voltage 1.35
idle - 41 c
Doom for an hour - 95 c (highest)
Aida64 stress 30 min - 95 c (highest)

clock - stock, core voltage auto
idle - 30 c.
Doom for an hour - 60 c (highest)
Aida64 stress 30 min - 73 c (highest)

clock - 4.9 GHz, core voltage 1.28
idle - 37 c
Doom for an hour - 87 c (highest)
Aida64 stress 30 min - 89 c (highest)

clock - 5.0 GHz, core voltage 1.31
idle - 38 c
Doom for an hour - 87 c (highest)
Aida64 stress 30 min - 89 c (highest)

I have also tried 5.2 Ghz at 1.39 volts (no aida64 test) and booted the system successfully but I didn't want to fry the components given the 5.1 results without sufficient cooling. If I don't play any games then 5.1 and 5.2 was just fine but who are we kidding ? I got this for gaming :). So I have settled on 4.8 GHz for now which seems fine for everything. My question is: Do I need to install custom watercooling to push 5.1/5.2 or even 5.3 ? I did install only 1 time before, I am not experienced but I think I am comfortable doing it again. Also I was thinking to get something like EK's x360. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you very much for reading.

  1. What's your ambient temp? Also running Aida64 you don't need to stress test FPU alone as that's like running Prime95 with >26.6v

Thank you for replying and the FPU info. Ambient temp is 26 c.

It's quite high if your ambient temp is 26C. Make sure you don't stress test FPU with Aida64, it generates unrealistic amount of heat.
