Can I overclock an i5-4690k on a z87 chipset?

I'm looking particularly at the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming G1.Sniper Z87 in terms of motherboards.

-Thanks

Thanks! But can you direct me to a tutorial as to how to update a motherboard, if the 'board isn't already up to date? By the ways, thanks on the speedy response!

  5. But I've found the cpu support list for the mobo, the 4690k is on there. Does this mean I can overclock on it?

Yes, but you must have the right bios version for it to even work. Is it supported from the first version?

if the bios is not up to date then you cant update the bios as it will not boot

you would be stuck with a non-working paper weight

and would need to buy an old cpu to boot, to update the bios XD

you can talk to gigabyte themselves to make sure it has bios F3 standard on that mobo
