Help picking core parts of $1200 total build?

Hey Guys,

Need some advice on some part picking for a buddy's new build. I have some ideas myself, but I've been out of the pc building world for a while and don't know the latest and best bang for buck. Like I said in the title, this is a $1200 TOTAL build, meaning the computer and all the peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard). This rig will be used for gaming and some video editing, hence the 16GB of RAM.

I would prefer everything to be from newegg.

Here's what I have so far:

Windows 10 $100
Monitor- Acer KN242HYL 23.8” $110
Mouse + Keyboard- Devastator II LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Bundle $30
---------------------------------$240 for peripherals and OS

$960 REMAINING FOR PC
ASUS 24X DVD Burner $20
WD Blue 2TB HDD - 5400 $69
WD Blue 250GB SSD $90
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 2x8gb $100
Corsair Carbide Series CC-9011050-WW SPEC-01 $50

$329/960 spent

So obviously I need a processor, mobo, GPU and PSU.

Would prefer intel if possible, and light overclocks would be cool as well.

Thanks everyone!

$962 if you go Newegg and Amazon only.

Would be what I'd build on this budget
