Help picking a GPU - GTX 1050 ti vs GTX 1060 3GB or neither?

I live in Canada so the prices are in CAD.
GTX 1050 ti (4GB) - $190 CAD
GTX 1060 (3GB) - $250 CAD

Also for comparison:
GTX 1060 (6GB) - $330 CAD
RX 470 (4GB) - $270 CAD

My price range is under $300 preferably.
I currently have an R9 370 OEM which I believe is similar to the R7 370 for reference. Is it even worth it to upgrade my graphics card right now? I'm thinking maybe I should wait a little longer to upgrade. I've been upgrading my other PC components which is why I was looking into a new graphics card. However, I can't spend much more than $300 right now.
I mostly play games like Overwatch, League, Csgo. (nothing too intense) But I'm interested in casual play of other Steam games as well. I play at 1080p and use a 144hz monitor

Thanks (:

  1. I think you should try the 1060 6gb even if it's expensive....
most of the modern games' high/ultra settings require more than 3gb VRAM.
try to buy the cheapest gtx 1060 6gb to lower your expense.

  2. Whoa where are these prices from? You can get an RX 580 under $300 CAD from NCIX. In fact it's only $9 more than the RX 470 you listed. The RX 580 will be as strong as you can get under $300 CAD (new) unless you see a GTX 1070 going around that price but that's very unlikely.

The prices are from Amazon.ca. I'm trying to get an NVIDIA card due to personal preference, just added the price of the RX 470 for a comparison. I also prefer buying MSI or EVGA as the brand for that added layer of reliability/support. :P Not to say Gigabyte isn't reliable.Thank you for your input though! Am now leaning more towards waiting a bit longer to upgrade. That way I'll be able to up my price range in order to get something better (like the 1070 or 1080) or wait until the price drops more on the 1060 6GB.

  4. for a proper 1080p gaming, the 1060/480/580 is the right choice. but like others said, u cant go wrong with a rx470. it simply is the better deal with the 470 performing better than the 1050ti.

As u prefer Nvidia and given ur choice, go with the Nvidia GTX 1060 (3 gb). The graphics card memory is enough if u game at 1080p. But if u are looking forward to using a higher resolution monitor , i would consider something with more video card memory...

But for the price, the gtx 1050 ti stands out.... the evga gtx 1050 ti is a good card..... But as u have a budget for under 300$, i would suggest u to get the 1060...
