Having trouble installing latest RST on MSI z97 Gaming 5 - Trying to get Samsung Magician to work for 960 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD

I recently installed a new Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD into my MSI z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I am using a PCIe Gen3 x4 adapter in a PCIe Gen3 x8 slot. The SSD works es expected. I have Samsung Magician 5 installed and it says rapid mode for my 960 pro is not supported. However, it does say that my Samsung 850 EVO is supported for it. I tried installing the latest RST driver to see if it would fix the issue and I am getting a failure message. Why can't I install the latest RST driver? Why isn't my 960 pro supported for rapid mode?

  1. EDIT. added some info and fix some typo's
how many Drives do you have?? intel RST works in RAID. if you only have one it will not work.

I have three drives. Samsung 960 pro, Samsung 850 Evo, and a Sandisk Ultra 2. I am not doing a RAID array. Is RST specifically for RAID?

somewhat, the intel RST software will create it for you, intel RST is a caching system, usually it is use in a HDD(main drive)/SSD(cache drive) combo, where the SSD is small (around 16-32gb). since you have all SSD i dont think there is any benefit on using intel RST(imo).

but if your really into doing it read here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/248828/how_to_setup_intel_smart_response_ssd_caching_technology.html
