GTX 1080 Ti - help with PSU connections

Hello guys,

I'll be ordering a GTX 1080 ti and noticed it takes 2 x 8-pin PCI-express connectors.

My PSU is Antec Earthwatts 650w v2.2: it only comes with 1x6-pin & 1x8 (6+2 pin) connectors.

Are the molex to PCI-express 8-pin adapters reliable / Sata to PCI-Express or am I taking my chances?

thanks,
Marc

  1. I wouldn't use any adapters with a 1080ti , get a proper PSU with the right PCIE connections.

I didn't realize the adapters were not a reliable option and I wouldn't want to bork a nice new gpu.

You would be surprised at the number of people that push back against that suggestion, and are quite happy to risk $300-1000 of GPU for the sake of a decent $60-100 PSU.
