Which Graphics Card is Better GTX 1050 or GTX 1070 (NOTE SPECIAL LINKS)

So I've been doing research on graphics cards lately because i want to upgrade soon my Radeon R7 250x 2GB card to something that can run most games at 1080p medium-high settings.

I also plan to get a case with a window so the founder's edition cards are eyeing me with that LED GeForce Logo.

I'm not 100% sure what affects GPU's in performance, but i know clock speed has "something" to do with it... I noticed that the more expensive the card gets, the higher the clock speed.
(i noticed my card has around 1000-1200MHz. and cards like GTX 1050 go from around 1400-1500MHz, 1070 1500-1600MHz, and 1080 1700MHz+)
So anyways, because of this, I'm wondering if that is the main impact on GPU performance.

The two cards I'm comparing are https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MCUYOWK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
(Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB G1 - $169.99)
AND
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Founders-Graphics-08G-P4-6170-KR/dp/B01GLRX81I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487908022&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+1070+founders+edition
(EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition, 8GB - $439.88)

The specific cards I chose from these are both 1506MHz.

So my question is, aren't they pretty much the same thing then? If not please help me understand what to look at for performance. Im tired of looking at benchmark videos as those don't seem to help me.

    Hi,

The 1070 will smash the 1050 out of the ball park.

Not only does it have double the amount of memory but it also has many more cuda cores.

Both of these essentially mean better performance at higher resolutions. If you have the money to spend go with a 1070.

If you are trying to save some you could always meet in the middle by looking at a GTX 1060 6gb.
