  1. An External HDD with USB3.0 connectivity would be a good route provided you're not dealing with overwhelming TB's of data. Mind sharing with us why you need to swap HDD's?
  2. What is the requirement for swapping drives?

I edit audio, so I need a lot of hard drive space, I thought hot swap would be a cool and efficient way to do that

How about a 4 bay external USB box?
I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X26VV4

4 bays, up to 8TB each. USB 3.0 or eSATA connection
