underperforming gtx 1080 and 9590 cpu

Greetings,

I have terrible performance with a gtx 1080 and a 9590 cpu. In the division, I cant even play at medium settings without my fps going down into the low 40's. I have tried updating bios, manually setting the cpu settings in bios, reset bios to original settings, reinstalled windows, tried switching SSD's, slow mode switch is off, tried switching ram modules, cool and quiet is off etc, reinstalled drivers using DDU,

More about underperforming gtx 1080 9590 cpu
  1. In a fast view, i assume the problem here is your cpu. Which usage is the cpu when you're playing that title?
  2. Firstly that's a weak CPU to be running a 1080 with. What Ghz is your cpu running at in game? That CPU is notorious for throttling due to it or the motherboard VRM's overheating.
  3. cpu is running at 4.7 ghz and each core is running 90-100%. Temperatures seem fine from hardware monitor even during load and wont go above 60*.
  4. Ok as long as its holding 4.7 then its ok. I'd start looking for other programs using the CPU at the same time. What is your cpu usage while just at your desktop. I'd expect a bottleneck but 40fps in games is lower than I'd expect for a 9590 but if its running at 100% @ 4.7Ghz then I expect something else is hogging some resource.

expect drops, your cpu is not very good

doesnt help that the game is coded like utter bollocks

look at tweaking guides, turn down anything cpu intensive

you really need an i7 setup for a 1080 mate

So your saying that I should be going below 40 fps on medium settings with this 9590 and I should abandon hope of even thinking of playing a modern game at a decent framerate? I know the chip isn't very good, but I see people getting much better results than me with the same setup.

My CPU usage on desktop is around 0-10%. Didn't see it bump up higher than that.
  8. Your CPU usage shouldn't be that high on your desktop. As suggested above; it is your CPU causing the bottleneck, but it should not be this poor. I would (also as above) go through your programs and check what's using 1/5-1/4 of your CPU when you're not even doing anything.

Edit: Updated your post. If your CPU isn't being split between a few different things, and you're running at 90-100% on your CPU when you play the game... then yes that's your CPU bottlenecking the game. MMO games are notorious for being CPU intensive.

But its not just this game. im underperforming in everything!

Have you tried increasing the settings? You probably will not see a drop in performance if you did.

    It's likely a CPU issue.
  11. What else are you underperforming in? What are you running comparisons on?
  12. Reinstall Windows and start over fresh. That might fix your problem.

Supports CPU up to 140 W

this is how asus is speced as 140w board but tell you you can use a 220w cpu on it ??? good ol' asus

    https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/specifications/

2ed are you sure that game is not another one of then crap running poorly optimized games you see so much of these days ??

    https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/438zt2/anyone_else_getting_poor_performance_on_the/

''Reinstall Windows and start over fresh. That might fix your problem '' that's pretty sad and desperate to need to stoop to doing that over a game

then you don't know what changes steam maybe doing to the game or to your computer and your computers security under your nose ? you did agree to that ''with out limitations ''' that may of affected thing overall ??

    from steam eula

''For reasons that include, without limitation, system security, stability, and multiplayer interoperability, Steam may need to automatically update, pre-load, create new versions of or otherwise enhance the Content and Services and accordingly

how do you compare to these results with the same cpu and card ?

just be sure to take in any consideration for any cpu/ card overclocks involved

    and use number of GPU's = 1

    http://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode=advanced&url=/proxycon/ajax/search/cpugpu/fs/P/1654/1085/500000?minScore=0&cpuName=AMD FX-9590&gpuName=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
  14. Hi, I'm having the same problem but with an Asrock 990Fx Extreme 9 that should be made for that CPU. Moreover I have worse results on benchmark that with my previous CPU Phenom II x6 1100T) and this is more unexplainable to me.

I have Win7 Pro, the same SSD and 4x4gb of Corsair XMS 1600Mhz an Corsair RM1000i PSU

    Any ideas/suggestion....
  15. '' Asrock 990Fx Extreme 9 that should be made for that CPU ''

my buddies son has that board and 220w cpu as well it works fine but heat is his issue and uses a honker sized corsair v8 cooler on it

''I have worse results on benchmark that with my previous CPU Phenom II x6 1100T) and this is more unexplainable to me.''

funny thing is all our AM3+ builds that was what my AMD fanboy buddy kinda said '' my old 939 build works better then any of these AM3+ we got going '' got to agree I used my old 939 and am2+ far more then any of the 3 AM3+ builds I was never satisfied with in any way . made me go intel for my first time ever in 16 years and cant say that was a bad move in any way

all AM3= did for me was cost me a lot of time money and headache .a lot ....junk box
  16. That's quite sad :( Anyway we are here in AM3+ and we have to try to do our best. The strange thing is that someone seems to be happy and to have found the way.....i stare at those fews as myths....but let's say it: this is the fun of the game....much too easy with intel and less fascinating :D

Yes I have the heat issue too, under certaing games (civilization VI or ESO) above 85°C after about 1h playng....I'm building a custom liquidcooling system to fix it but the core of my question was about the reason why I have 11466 Fire Strike 3dMARK now against 12377 of before...this makes me going nuts....
If you want I can post the detailed results...

    Thanks again
