Overclocking AMD FX-8350

PSU: RM750x
MOTHERBOARD: asus m5a97 r2.0 amd970
GPU: MSI gtx 1070
CPU: FX-8350

I'm overclocking my cpu because it's a massive bottleneck (I know I bought an op GPU). Got 4.4 Ghz on the cpu but it's getting 70°C on package and 55°C on the core according to HWinfo, AMD overdrive told me I had a 10°C thermal margin.

Voltage is at 1.4 (HWinfo) with load line callibration on because I get a ton of Vdroop. Manual voltage was set to 1.325 or something.

I am using a noctua NH-D 15 with proper mounting and thermal paste application.

Can this be correct temperature and is it a safe temperature to run 24/7?

Only way to find out is by stress testing for atleast 30 minutes. 70 degrees seems pretty high for AMD CPU, I'd say you should be able to keep it below 65 degrees max.

That being said, the VRM cooling on your motherboard is far from sufficient quality. I'm not sure how long 4.4 Ghz will be stable before your CPU starts throttling due to lack of VRM cooling.
  2. Having a good and correctly installed processor cooler does not guarantee you will get good OC temp.
Your room temp and the airflow in your PC case also play a big role.

2 case fans, 2 fans on the cpu cooler, neutral pressure. Room temp is 20°C.

Guess I'll just wait untill the new AMD ZEN release, see what they bring to the market. Thanks for the advice, I'll mark you as the solution.
  5. RyZEN is definitely worth waiting for :)
