samsung 960 pro m.2 ssd on PCI Express 2.0 x8

How much will that affect the speed? My graphic card already used the x16

  1. What motherboard? I don't believe any PCI-E 2.0 boards support booting from NVMe drives. It might work but only as a storage drive and that's a waste of money.

    My motherboard is GA-Z68XP-UD3P...Oh so you are saying it only boot from SATA? That sucks...

    You need Z170 or newer, well or X99 to boot from NVMe. Motherboard features were one of the big reasons I upgraded from Sandy Bridge. The older boards lack the UEFI support to boot from NVMe. You can still use them with adapters and at full speed but only as storage. Which is a waste.
