Can I take a sdd from one laptop and transfer it to another?

My decent pc had an OS failure and I installed ubuntu onto it, but I just don't like Linux, I have another laptop running vista. Is it possible to put the one running vista into the decent pc?
PC1(Ubuntu)Sdd------PC2
PC2(Vista)Sdd------>PC1

    Highly unlikely that Vista infused drive will actually boot up in a different system.
    And if it does, then you run into activation issues.

    Plus, now the original Vista laptop has no drive or OS.

    What was the original OS on Laptop #1?
  4. Windows XP home basic SP1
  5. Well....you could just..you know...try it.

    Unlikely to work, but you've lost nothing except a little bit of time.
    You might get lucky, though.

    What is the make/model on these two old laptops?

    It will work, but you will have to reverify it through microsoft as the operating system is tied to your original motherboard. You can also try a clean install and enter the serial number(should be on the bpottom of your vista laptop)
