Can you use a DDR3 GPU on a DDR2 Motherboard?

Question in title, looking to upgrade after Christmas, and want to be 100% sure before I spent my money on it.

    Yes you can, but you should think twice before buying a GPU with DDR3. DDR3 is MUCH slower than the standard GDDR5 that most GPUs use. DDR3 models only have around 50% of the performance of the same model GPU with the faster memory.

  3. Thanks guys, and Calculagator, I'm on a budget so I need to be careful with my money. Is it better to get a 2GB DDR3 GPU or a 1GB GDDR5 GPU?
