Upgrading my build, asking for advice

Hi!

I'll start with my current build

i5-3470
Kingston Hyperx Grey 2x4GB
MSI B75A
Radeon 7970 Windforce 3GB
BeQuiet! 620W

I wanted to upgrade my build with a new GPU; 1060 or rx480(or higher) but i have some doubts about the whole build running the new GPU.

Is it possible that my CPU will be bottlenecking a 1060 6gb card or the amd equivalent?
Do I have to buy a new build?

Build is mostly used for gaming and browsing the internet.

Thanks in advance.

[EDIT]

Sorry forgot to mention my PSU, added to the list.

  1. How much are you willing to spend on this upgrade?
IMO you don't need to get a full new build, you can do that to stay updated with the newer tech but that's no really necessary.

Bottleneck may occur in CPU-Heavy games, otherwise it won't your CPU although old is still capable of handling things.
I'd recommend upgrading your RAM, 8GB nowadays tend to be little. Try to get some 2x8GB sticks of RAM.

I'd recommend getting a RX480 as there's a lot of great deals on it. It's a bit slower than the 1060 but it's price right now compensates for that.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply.

Money is not the problem here, just wanted to ask if there's a point in upgrading only my GPU.

If not, I presume I'd have to buy a new mobo, cpu etc.

    [EDIT]

    I've just seen your edit.

AFAIK BF1(which i play the most now) is a CPU heavy game, at least for now and that is my main concern with upgrading this build.

I've always been a radeon fan, but now it's debatable for me to buy rx480.

    No problem there then.
Upgrade your GPU and RAM and everything's fine!

For 1080p either the 1060 or the RX480 are absolutely great.
The performance boost with those changes would be nice compared to your current rig.

If you wanna go beyond 1080p i'd suggest getting the GTX1070, it's performance will allow you to play decently in 1440p
  4. 1080p is the best i can have cause of my Eizo FG2421.

Generally I aim at performance rather than quality(i mostly play fps games).

Then either the RX480 or the GTX 1060 will be just perfect for your needs as they can easily max 60+ fps in 1080 with High/Ultra settings.
