Boot_Device_LED, system wont post

Asus Z97-a Boot_Device_LED red, system wont post.

Screens lost connection while the PC was running. I have not changed any hardware recently.

I hit the reset button and now the system wont post.

I have tried all the usual fixes for a Boot_Device_LED failure. I have reconnected the MB 24-pin power cable, Replaced the CMOS battery, reconnected my SSDs and HardDrives. The Boot_Device_LED is still red and I cant get into the bios.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do from here?

  1. If starting the board with only CPU and CPU fan installed, what LED stays red?

So I unplugged all 4 of my storage devices from the MB (left them connected to the PSU) and disconnected my monitors (3x eyefinity) from the graphics card, I plugged 1 monitor via DVI directly to the MB. The BOOT LED still lit up red but the system is now booting into the bios.

CPU is fine and RAM seems ok (despite running at 1333MHz) and the PCIe x16 slot with graphics card is fine (with 2 green lights on the power cable slots)

    *UPDATE*
I went through each drive ( 1 SSD for windows OS, 1 HDD for windows storage, 1 SSD for Linux, 1 HDD Linux storage) when only the windows boot drive is connected (display connected to the MB) the system boots into windows, which is all i care about at the moment. The linux SSD will not boot, which is not my concern right now as it is secondary in the boot priority.

Now that I have windows running i am going to try switching back to the graphics card to see if windows will boot
  3. Probably the problem was the SSD.

SSD seems to be working fine as I can boot into windows when my monitor is connected to the MB. But now that I switched back to the graphics cards the displays no longer work. Next step is to take out the GPU and try it in a different PCIe slot.

    *Update*

Drives are working as they should, I can boot into windows if my monitor is connected to my MB but I get no response from monitors when they are plugged into the graphics card.

The issue is, I am not getting a PCIe error light and the power lights are green on the card. The fans spin up and there are no other signs of problems, apart from the monitors not starting up while connected to the GPU.
  5. Try testing the card in different pc, or RMA-ing it, if under warranty.

Asus has a 36 month warranty so I am going with the RMA option. Shame I cant figure out what the actual problem is outside of the GPU no longer outputting a video signal.

    Thank you for your help
