Question about SATA Express, M.2, and PCIe Storages

Hello. Thank you in advance for reading and any help.

I just purchased ASUS Z170-AR motherboard, and this is what it says on spec sheet for storage:

Quote:
1 x SATA Express port, Compatible with 2 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports
1 x M.2 x4 Socket 3, ^2, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)^3
6 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Supports Intel® Smart Response Technology^4

With

Quote:
*1: The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with SATA6G_56. The PCIe x16_3 is default set at x2 mode.
*2: Supports PCIE RAID configurations via onboard M.2 and PCIex16_3.
*3: M.2 shares SATA mode with SATA Express. Change this item before installing M.2 SATA devices.
*4: These functions will work depending on the CPU installed.

The M.2 and SATA stuff is really confusing to me so I could use some help with a couple of questions:

1) Am I understanding correctly that this motherboard supports 6 drives total from SATA and M.2? Its a bit confusing with SATA Express taking 2 SATA slots and M.2 sharing with SATA Express. Or does it mean that if I use onboard m.2 drive, I can only have 4 more SATA drives, so a total of 5? Really lost on this one.

2) If I use a PCIe adapter such as this, does that affect the # of drives I can use in the question above or is it completely separately and unrelated?

3) If I use a PCIe adapter, does that diminish my primary graphics card PCIe slot from 16x to only 8x? If I use two PCIe adapters, does it bring it down again?

Thank you in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

Edit: This is the drive I was thinking about getting.

M.2 uses either SATA or PCIE mode. Since your using a PCIE drive, then *3: M.2 shares SATA mode with SATA Express does not apply.

    2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8)
    1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode) *1

*1: The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with SATA6G_56. The PCIe x16_3 is default set at x2 mode.

Dual means using both PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots at the same time.

So because Intel 600p drive is PCIe interface, I can still use SATA Express slots for total of 7 drives then?
