I'm having weird issue with HDD

Hello!

My HDD has lately been jumping up to 100% load on some occasions, even while idle which is extreamly strange. And I've tried restarting my entire PC every time but no success and it can stay at 100% for 1-3min before it goes back to being at low, but sometimes it stays at 80-90 and then jumps back to 100. Like it's doing at this very moment of writing this thread.

While doing nothing.

After restart of entire PC and still doing nothing.

At the very moment of writing this, doing nothing but using chrome.

My specs can be found in my signature.

My HDD is a 2TB Seagate ST2000DM001-9YN.

I have tried using SeaTools but it says nothing is wrong and that everything is fine which it's obviously not, I don't have an SSD for reasons, number one being I don't have too much money as I'm a student and most of my money has gone to my PC (everything is bought used).

I can't even buy a new HDD so yeah...

If there's anything I forgot to mention that might be crucial just ask.

More about weird issue hdd
  1. check for windows updates and install updates
check to see if you have any ongoing maint sevices going like windows auto defrag.

"windows module installer worker" is usually related to the two items above, windows updateing and windows maint services.
  2. Hello.

Windows Installer is installing in all three? If it is installing a large update, then it can take 100% of the HDD, even though it says it uses only 1.6mb/s. Speed is not related to usage directly.

I suggest disabling updates and checking if this issue still occurs.

Small problem, how do I do that?
  4. Which windows is this? It looks like Windows 8.1, so follow this:

    1) Right click on the Start Menu icon
    2) Select "Control Panel"
    3) Select "System and Security"
    4) Select "Turn Automatic Updating On or Off"
    5) Choose "Do not check for updates"

Restart the pc and check for the same issues.

Windows 10 forces you to update your PC. There is no "off" for updates and Windows installer issues.

But there's always workarounds. Follow this manual:
