Need some help on my MB PCIe x16 slot

Hi all, I have a few questions to ask regarding my motherbaord PCIe x16 slot and GPU. I hope to get some help here. Thanks in advanced

1) I got a PCIe x16 3.0 graphic card and my Motherboard PCIe x16 is a 2.0. Will it have any problem?

2) I have been having problem with my graphic card attafch to this PCIe x16 (BLUE) and I have almost spoil 2 graphic card until now. My question is can i attach my graphic onto the 2nd PCIe x16 (x4 mode BLACK). Will it work? I did try inserting it once but it cannot fit properly because there is a MB Heatsink(not sure) beside it that is blocking the way. Is this normal? any solution to put my graphic card on the x16 (if it work the same).

Hoping to get some replies. Thanks

No problem, you are fine, because the pcie3.0 is backward compatible to pcie2.0 https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Impact-of-PCI-E-Speed-on-Gaming-Performance-518/

You can use the 2nd pciex4 (black), and you will get the lower performance, https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GTX_980_PCI-Express_Scaling/22.html
Usually if the GPU has the backplate, or you have the add-on device ( pcie), and you may have problem to fit the GPU in the 1st pcie slot.
If you have the pcie add-on device, like the sound card, you may install it into the 2nd pciex4 slot. In this case, the GPU in 1st pcie slot will run x8 speed.
  2. Thanks cin19 for your reply, very informative. I dont mind using the lower performance as long as it will work. I suspecting my blue x16 pcie slot is spoil as I got 2 graphic card keep failing from it. Keep sending them for repairs. Therefore I was thinking of putting the card in the black x4 mode to prevent the card from failing. But my card is quite long and the MB heat sink seems to be blocking the way will there be a problem?
