What do you guys think about this build, and would you add/remove anything? (I added a Z97 board for future upgrade, as i already had the CPU).

  1. Haswell is yesterday's news. Go with i5 6400 or 6500, and a decent B150 or H110 board such as the MSI H110M - you'll get more bang for your buck. The power supply you picked does not have a good track record - I would suggest a Seasonic SII12 520W.

    Looks alright.

Haswell may be old(er) stuff than skylake, but it is still some of the fastest stuff out there, I do laugh at people moving from 4XXXX to 6XXXX just because it's newer, can't justify a new CPU/RAM/MOBO just for a tiny bit of power efficiency and a 5% arch speed improvement.

Perhaps drop the z97 motherboard for a cheaper H97?
You wont be doing any overclocking on a non-K CPU, and upgrading to an i7 wont really see you much performance in-game. (most games)

Any CPU upgrade you'll be doing in the future will require a new motherboard/cpu/ram anyway, so don't put too much money into those parts.

The money you save from that can be put to a RX 480 / better PSU.
  3. Here. Let me BOLD that for you...

Overall, it's not a bad build.

I take back what I said about the CPU/motherboard.
