The I7 6700K is an LGA1151 Socket, and the Asus ROG STRIX x99 Gaming is an LGA-2011v3 Socket. So no, it would not work. I would recommend something along the lines of the Z170, I am guessing you know that the x99 board will need DDR4, so will this one:https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z170-PRO-GAMING/

No worries, the Z170 board allows overclocking so it will go well with the overclockable 6700k, so no worries about that!
