Problems With Installing New Graphics Card, Wont show picture

I upgraded to a Nvidia GT 740 and im having problems. I used device sweeper to get rid of the drivers for my current one (amd r5 230). So I installed the 740 into my computer and plugged in the 6 pin and it turned on. But when i plug it into my monitor (i use a VGA to DVI adapter) the whole system powers up incuding the graphics card but it doesnt show anything. I already checked if everything was plugged in and if the adapter worked. Also if you were wondering my psu is 600w. Please help
