My motherboard doesn't save OC settings after I set it to 411+MHz

I'm trying to overclock my C2D E8400 to 4GHz but my Foxconn G31MXP-K doesn't save settings after i set it to 411 and above MHz. I'm currently on 410MHz x 9 = 3.7Ghz. I also disabled "Spread Spectrum" but doesn't do changes at all. I also set the RAM speed to stock 800MHz. I added 0.0250 volts (2nd step addition of voltage). I want to reach 4GHz(450MHz*9) since I have an Ice Edge Mini hsf. After saving the bios settings, It automatically reboots and a short beep will follow when the overclock settings are successful but in this case It takes 4-6seconds for the beep to come and automatically it returns back to 333MHz

Motherboard: Foxconn G31MXP-K
Processor: C2D E8400 @ 3.0GHz @ 3.7GHz
Memory: 2x2gb kingmax @ 800MHz

Thank you and have a nice day!

More about motherboard save settings set 411 mhz
  1. You will need to change like:
    1) disable C1E
    2) keep the PCI express clock at 100mhz
    3) manually tweak the RAM settings like the voltage.
    4) You have to find more guides online.

I added one of them, and other is the BIOS setting for ocing the E8500, just for reference, and read the guide carefully and try it. Good luck.

    according to this site: http://hexus.net/tech/tech-explained/cpu/9808-intel-core-2-duo-basic-overclocking-guide-beginners/

I need to set my RAM values to 4-4-4-12 but my computer wont boot and beeps like 5-6 times then I need to clear cmos in order to boot. I've disabled the C1E function. Now I set the RAM values to 5-5-5-15 but I can't overclock to 379+ MHz anymore. When I'm in 400+ MHz games do have lag spikes ("stop motion movements").

    What game do you play?
    What GPU do you have?
    What monitor do you have?
Maybe the GPU will not play well with that games.
Also when you try oc your PC, you need the better quality PC components, because not all the parts are the same. Like if you can't boot while the RAM was set at 4-4-4-12. you may try 4-4-4-13, 4-4-4-14, also try incease the voltage too. You will have to to try any combinations to work. Also if the game is GPU intensive, you oc the cpu will not help too much.
