MSI 990FXA Gaming fit in my tower?

Hey all,

so i asked a VERY similar question about tower dimensions the other week whcih probably gives away my ignorence at this sort of thing, but could you reassure me that the MSI 990FXA Gaming motherboard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00YCF80C4/ref=s9_acsd_bw_wf_s_GAME_cdl_31?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-10&pf_rd_r=864SM9ZFQDQBAFPSX2GJ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=806170547&pf_rd_i=8420722031 will fit in my Mid tower: http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=476

the motherboard is ATX, 35 x 30 x 6 cm

and the tower is ATX midtower, up to 290mm.

could someone tell me if these two are compatible, and for future reference how to be sure that they fit?

thanks!

    From the mother board specs:

    Dimension

    • 12 in. x 9.6 in. (30.5 cm x 24.4 cm) ATX Form Factor

These are the exact dimensions for an ATX motherboard, see the Wiki below.

The case is a mid tower ATX case and it's specs say that it is compatible with an ATX or mATX motherboard.

Motherboard Compatibility Standard ATX / Micro ATX

The confusion with some 990 chipset boards is because some are indeed built to the EATX (larger) standard and won't fit all cases. The motherboard you have listed is not EATX.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX

The only thing that concerns me is where did you get those dimensions for the motherboard? They don't correlate to anything. If you got those from the dimension on Amazon, it's likely that those are the dimensions for the motherboard box and not the motherboard itself.

Thanks for the response man!, yes those specs are from amazon where it says "product dimensions". looking at the officla site i see that the dimessions are actually 12 in. x 9.6 in. (30.5 cm x 24.4 cm) ATX Form Factor as you mentioned, so id go with that.

looks like mines compatable then! cheers!
  3. should be ok,
normally if show mid-tower (ATX) that means all the atx motherboard will be ok!
