Solved

Upgraded my internet but there's no noticeable speed increase.

I upgraded my internet back in February because price increase's I was paying the same for my 120mb connection as the 240mb, so i upgraded to 240mb but i only get a 10mb difference in upload speed using a ethernet connection (my pc has a network bottleneck of 1G). So I decided to contact customer service and the best i could get out of the was "have you tried restarting your modem" which is a more formal way of saying have you turned it on and off again. I can't find anything on the internet relating to my issue and the customer service is no help.

  1. Upload speeds are completely separate from download speeds. Make sure to check your ISPs website for both plans and see if the upload speeds differ (sometimes they are not given up front and you have to dive into the Ts and Cs to find them)

with my plan i should be getting 240mb down and 24mb up, with my old plan i got 120 mb down and 14mb up.
My upload speed is what is should be but my download speed is still 120mb.

Who is your ISP, what connection do you have (ADSL, coax cable)?

    Modem, Router: Make and models?

Could be some wiring issue: Too many splitters, cable problems (corrosion, kinks, rodent chews, substandard quality) - some physical problem. May have been there before and 120mb worked but the problem is "too much" for 240mb.

And you may need to call customer service a couple of more times. Hopefully you will eventually find a support person who can really check things from ther end. Maybe someone has just failed to flip the 120mb to 240mb "switch" on their end. Just keep good notes for each of your calls.
