Mainboard (X99) for i7 5820K and Titan X?

Hey guys :)

I am very new to this forum. I am a first builder and I don't know which motherboard/mainboard suits my needs the best.

Some information:

Build:

i7 5820K
ASUS Titan X
(The other stuff is not necessarily relevant for this thread)

My objectives:

-The title already reveals it, I won't be going SLI. I especially need the VRAM of the Titan X.
- I don't want to overclock yet, because I'm still a noob, however I might eventually do it once I am more familiar with PC building. That's why the mainboard should still be capable to do it.
-I don't want to pay more than 500€.

I was considering to go with the ASUS Rampage Extreme V (because of its renown for overclocking), although 5x PCIe x16 lanes seem a waste to me as the CPU only supports 28 lanes.
Other than for the Titan X and my Elgato Game Capture HD 60 Pro, I don't need any more lanes.

Therefore my question:

Which X99 mainboard suits my needs the best? Is there even a difference between some mainboards as to performance?

Thanks for helping

Have a nice day

Greets

I wouldn't say there's massive amount of performance difference. It comes down more on the features each model provides and the settings it allows you to play with.

And I always say, any motherboard costing more than 300$ is overkill.
If you want to play with a stable, full featured packed with connectivity, options and still with options for overclocking, the motherboard I would stick with would be either ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO or OC Forumla, both on Z170 chipset.

Thank you! I need a motherboard with the X99 chipset though. The i7 5820K perfectly fits my needs and my budget.
