Gtx 980 slight stutter while in specific games

So I bought a new pc like 4 months ago and have had a problem with it ever since. My build is:
Intel core I5-6600K OC @4.2 GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 No OC
Memory: Corsair 2x4GB No OC
Storage: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
WDC WD10EZRZ-00HTKB0
MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO
Cooling: NZXT Kraken

I've monitored the temps and they seem normal staying at around 40C for both my GPU and CPU. I've also done a FireStrike test and that gave me a 11472 as a total score. I've also run Prime95 after OC and it was stable until I stopped it after about a full day of tests.
The main game I play that has had problems is Smite and it's sort of like a stutter every now and then while in game most of the time while in fights but also when calling the scoreboard or going into shop or even opening the VGS (a sort of quick communication in the game)
So, if someone could suggest a next step to take or even just sending a part of the build back for examining as I do have insurance on them that'd make my day/week/month/year!

More about gtx 980 slight stutter specific games
  1. Forgot to mention I did install Windows 10 on the pc.
  2. Online games like that are finicky on a networking level. Im willing to bet if you port forward for the game it will help out alot tcp port 9000-9999 udp ports 9002-9999. Also try temporarily disabling the firewall on your router and see if that helps aswell
  3. Thanks for the fast response but sadly enough this didnt help with the stutter issue. It did help with general connection a bit but that would be the end of it. If anyone has another solution to try out that would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I had this problem when I upgraded my GPU to a 960, after a week of tinkering I found that disabling page file, turning off (not restarting) and starting the PC , enabling it again and setting it to "automatically manage paging..." applying and turning it of and on again fixed the stuttering I had, hopefully it works for you.
  5. this problem maybe because of two things
    1) your ram is 8 gb which is minimal for 60% of the games around
2)game has a optimization problem and you should search on google if anybody is having the same problem
and also don't get mad at me or anything but ur pc isn't on power saving mode right? hope this will help!

It doesn't seem like it fixed the problem but I had issues disabling the pagefile fully as it wouldn't actually tell me it was disabled even if I had disabled it before restarting... Just so it's clear I need to disable it in the Performance Options and then Advanced and then Change and change it from automatically to "no page file" right?

I've browsed the web countless hours looking for a solution that worked on forums, guides etc. but have found little to no improved after using these methods so I don't think looking any further will help in this particular case. Also I have plenty friends playing this game who have 8 gb or even less that have not reported having these problems so I don't think that could be the issue. And no, it's not on power saving mode
  8. then you have have to be more specific which games in particular shhutter? İ have a gtx 980 too and it shuttered with games like far cry 4 and batman but they turned out to be a optimization problem so i fixed them pretty easily
