No Change in CPU Temps after upgrading from Stock Cooler

Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused because couple of months ago, I started using Cooler Master Hyper D92 Cooler and noticing that temps are same as it was before.
What the reason behind this? Hyper D92 Cooler is not so bad, it should lower temps. Even idle temps are going to max 40C while room temp is almost 27C.

  1. What cpu do you have? What are load temps? Thats a decent cooler it should perform better than the stock intel cooler (assuming your using intel). I would assume you installed it improperly.
  2. Your new cooler has a fan that is controlled by the motherboard based on the current and the target temperature. The temp doesn't change until you lower the target temp in bios, but the rpm of the fan will lower with a better cooler - and the noise will.
  3. Before I was using cooler master stock cooler. I don't know its name. CPU is i5-2400. Cooler is installed properlly as I have properly checked it from tutorial also.
  4. On playing MGS-Phantom Pain I'm having max 62Ctemps after an hour. Normally, while playing one or two cores temps goes to max 58C.
  5. If a cooler is mounted well, your idle temperatures should be 10-15c. over ambient.
Looks to me like you are ok there.

Under load, you need a supply of fresh air for any cooler to do it's job.
Take the case covers off and see how much that helps. If it helps a lot, you have a case cooling issue.
    What is the make/model of:
    case
    cpu
    graphics card
    ??

Update... Under 70c. is not bad under load.
  6. noidea_77, how to target temp in bios? i'M USING Gigabyte Motherboard (-D3H)
  7. After playing 1hour and 32 minutes, two core's temps were 59C, third at 62C and fourth at 63C. Even Hard-disk temp goes to 44C, GPU goes to max 50C. Motherboard remains at 28C. I was thinking what will be the temp when room temp goes to 35C/36C.

Sorry, but either post the full name of the mobo or take a look in the manual yourself. It's typically in the PC Health menu.

  10. Open Case didn't help. Even in BIOS temps was 38C - 40C. Current room temp is 32C when I get this readings.
Some main MB BIOS settings are:
    CPU clock ratio: 31
    Intel Turbo Boost Technology: Auto
    Turbo Power Limit: Auto
    Core Current Limit: Auto
    CPU Fan Speed: Normal
    Vcore: 1.176
    +3.3V : 3.304v
    +12V : 11.880V

    In Advance Memory Settings:
Performance Enhance: Turbo (Other Options are Normal and Extreme)
    System Memory Multiplier: 13.33 (Auto)

I don't get it! What do you expect ? Less then room temp ? "CPU Fan Speed Control" and "Slope PWM" in the "PC Health Status" menu are the parameters to lock at if you really what to change the max CPU temp.
  12. Yes, CPU temp should be little less than room temps. In other terms, I'm just saying that with this cooler and with 30C to 35C of room temps, CPU temperatures should go max 32C temp.

LOL! Maybe a good idea to call your physics teacher and ask him about it.
  14. Fella, you didn't get it. I'm not saying that it should remain below 32C always on idle or even on gaming. These temps were those one when I was using Cooler Master simple stock cooler. When I started to use Hyper D92 Cooler, temps were almost same. During winter season, room temp was 1C and I started my system, went to bios and temps was 30C. This doesn't seen good to me. Now a days, room temp are 33C- 36C. And CPU temps starts from 40C. Cooler's job is to maintain temps.
  15. even at idle speeds ,temps at 10c over ambient temps is absolutely normal - anywhing thats carrying an electrical current HAS to be higher than ambient temperature .
You will never see idle temps of less than 30c because no sensors are accurate below that temperature.

Believe me, I got it very well! As an engineer I know what I'm saying. Cooler's job is to keep temp below T(Case) an that's 72.6°C for your CPU and to do that as quite as possible. If it keeps the idle temp at 40°C with only 5°C difference to room temp, it does a fantastic job! If you want more, you need Thermoelectric cooling, a Peletier cooler for example.
  17. Thank you everyone, and sorry for the silence for some months because I want to test it more especially in June and July months (the most hotest month). Now everything fine, because when room temp was more than 40C (I think it was 44C), after one hour of gaming, Temp of one core reaches to 67C and rest of all were low. So after that I'm sure that these temps are hell safe at this kind of room temperature. Everyone helped me alot. So its difficult to choose one correct answer. Thanks...
