ASUS STRIX 980TI OC Stopped working/Being recognized?

Hi guys,

Last week i bought an Asus 980ti and i think it may have died on me. It was working fine the first maybe 3-4 times i used my computer but tonight i turned it on and instantly got BCCode: 116 BSOD. Once i rebooted i cannot get past the windows logo without a BSOD and while its loading i get all blue lines all over my screen. I have updated my BIOS to most recent, all drivers, clean installed windows, removed and then re downloaded drivers. I really dont know what to do. Very rarely i can get past the windows logo on a normal boot but i have weird blue lines everywhere and eventually it BSODS.

I have also tried the card in my brothers computer (who has very similar specs to mine) and it does the exact same thing. Sometimes doesnt even load up at all (monitor in switching to dvi/hdmi rapidly before resetting) I have installed my previous card (GTX 780) and it boots and loads super fast with no issues.

My computer specs are:

Msi z170 m7 gaming
i76700k
32gig corsair vengence ram
850W PSU

The card was never OCed further than stock.

Any help would be so awesome because im really lost on what i can from here (besides take it back to retailer). I guess i just want to make 100% sure its faulty before i send it back.

Thanks so much.

Seeing as you tried it in another pc and the types of things it's doing, I would return it, nothing you can fix, it's faulty
  2. you can try underclocking your card. if that works then your card is dying.

if the 980ti is unstable with out the box core frequencies and voltage then its likely a bad piece of silicon that you should RMA... happens

lower the core clock as much as possible, leave the voltage untouched just to make sure that's it

If you have screen corruption during POST and before the BIOS hands over control of the display adapter to Windows (which loads the driver) then the card has a hardware fault. Though it's possible that the card could need to be reseated or you have a power issue. In all likelihood though, the graphics card is dying.
